My main problem with this game is that, if you choose to play black, the board is not automatically turned around, and you cannot manually do so. Consequently, you are not on the same side as your own pieces. That is a silly oversight. What is more, the level of play is not even remotely consistent with the stated rating. At 1500 elo, the AI still plays some piss poor openings, and follows with mediocre strategies. In short, the developers still have some work on their hands.
All chess theory is wrong for this chess set because the lower right corner of the board MUST be white! This is a basic chess rule. All other looks good.
Keeps crashing. Legitimate moves blocked or fail
I purchased the upgrade and was supposed to get it to be ad free. Still the ads are there in a couple of spots (not good). Can not play black from the bottom of the board. On the plus side it does play a good game of chess for us lower group of players. Some of the puzzles do not give the answer if I cant figure it out and then will not advance to the next puzzle. Then when I look at some the options I get a server error every time.
Worst chess app Ive downloaded and Ive downloaded so many. Theres an 80s Tron color scheme which makes it hard to tell piece colors apart. I captured the king and it kept playing another 5 moves. Makes me think of Mike the Headless Chicken who lived after it should have died. :) Only three levels of play and senseless animation. Not a helpful app for beginners, pointless for learning, useless for anyone experienced. Seriously, the game gives you an IAP option for 3D pieces. Maybe this app belongs in the 80s! (Positive note: the right bottom corner square is light colored now. Its not dark as an earlier reviewer notes.)
